I had the privilege of doing some cooking for a wonderful group of women, led by my good friend Megan Gunnell @ The Subiaco Retreat Center in Oxford Michigan this past weekend. It is a beautiful Retreat Center that sits on a gorgeous property and monastery site. We were definitely snowed in with ice and rain but it was so warm and cozy inside that we never wanted to leave. I love to bring people together with food. Sharing a meal with family and friends is such an important thing for the soul. The love and appreciation that I received was so rewarding and really helps to feed my own soul in so many ways. Here are some things that I took away from this weekend....
We as women really need to take more time out for ourselves to rest, rejuvenate and share our experiences with each other. It is not selfish to put yourself first, it just makes you that much stronger for yourself and others. Be wise enough to let go of the negative influences in your life, those things that bring you down, that little voice in your head that says "This doesn't feel right".....let it go. Surround yourself with positive people that make you feel loved and happy. Don't forget to start your day with beauty....look for it....seek it....it only takes a few minutes to find beauty but it will change the course of your day....listen to some music....read an inspiring quote....look for a beautiful piece of artwork that touches you....go to nature for inspiration....go outside and watch the birds and squirrels in the snow....look up at the stars and moon in awe over this infinite universe of ours....then share that beauty with someone who may need it more than you do that day.
~Namaste~
