The Georgia Mountains....

We just spent a wonderful week in the Georgia mountains with my Dad & Brother. It was hard to leave such a beautiful place. We hiked to some beautiful waterfalls, relaxed, napped, fished, cooked, laughed and made memories. I don't get to spend a lot of time with my Dad & brother so it was a pleasure to have an entire week with them. We rented a house on the side of a mountain with an amazing view of the Georgia Mountains. There is nothing like the smell of mountain laurel and the sound of running creeks and waterfalls. Jake had the time of his life, he had his head out the window the entire journey. We met many new nature friends including..."Big Larry" the biggest woodpecker we had ever seen, the sound of his hammering away at a tree echoed so loudly throughout the forest it was unbelievable. Others included...3 Snails, "Slippy" the Lizard, Our Donkey friend that we passed by almost everyday on our way to our adventures, "Chippy" the squirrel, lots of horses, 3 Buffalo (Mom, Dad & Baby), several large centipedes & millipedes, My little lavender moth friend who followed me around a waterfall all day (he was special), "Old Trouty", A smooshed snake in the road, several other smooshed things, and many beautiful bird friends. "Big Larry" gave us a fly by right before we left. I saw his awesome red mohawk zoom past the deck. On the way back we saw a bear cub up in a tree and his mommy nearby in the woods of the smokies, what a beautiful drive. My Dad's family is from a little town called Clayton Georgia and he has been going down there with his father every summer since he was Jake's age. He then took my brother along starting when he was very young. I am so happy that Jake is able to make the journey now and see all of the rich family history. It is amazing to realize that so many generations of your own family stood in the very same river or waterfall that you are standing in now. We will remember this trip forever....
and so will Jake.
