Can We Play Uno.....

The first words I hear as my eyes open this morning..."Can we play Uno?" I usually get this question about 17 times a day. The child is Uno-Crazy, and he always wins! We had no school today due to parent teacher conferences, so we began by playing Uno in bed during breakfast. Then Jake decided to play "Photographer Guy" his costume was a hat and bow-tie, very dashing! This also doubles as his "Detective Guy" costume. We then had a session of "Tickle-Time" which is always my personal favorite, I love to hear the uncontrollable laughter and pleas for mercy. I was then treated to a "Magic Show".....the old finger in the box trick, which he is completely fascinated with since learning it from our favorite barber/Jake's future father-in-law Mr. Jason from the Chop Shop .

Evolution...

I notice little changes in Jake's art work everytime we come back from a school break.
This time his drawings are dramatically different, no more stick figures and I love you Mommy pictures. He has moved on to calm landscapes and beautiful flowers. There's nothing better than a little warm weather to inspire you...Spring is in the air.

Letterboxing....

After weeks of everyone in our house being sick in some form or another we decided we needed to go out for a walk in the woods, to fill our lungs with fresh air and we thought a day of letterboxing would be fun, this our second time searching for treasures in the forests of Kensington. After a long wet trek deep into the woods we finally discovered the hidden treasure box that so many others had found before us. We met many forest creatures along the way, Deer, Mr. Blackbird, Mr. Bluebird, Chipmunks, Squirrels, Seagulls, Chick-A-Dees, Cardinals, and Cranes. We also collected some treasures to bring home for the nature table, Beautiful pine Cones, Milk Weed Pods, Rocks, Acorns, Twigs etc...After our walk we were all ready for some warm food to fill our bellies. Jake suggested Lo-Mein and what a good choice that was. What a fun day in the woods. Our fortune cookie summed it all up!
*Letterboxing is an intriguing “treasure hunt” style outdoor activity. Letterboxers hide small, weatherproof boxes in publicly-accessible places (like parks) and post clues to finding the box online on one of several Web sites. However, clues to finding some of the most highly-sought boxes are passed around by word of mouth. There are about 20,000 letterboxes hidden in North America alone. Individual letterboxes usually contain a log book, an often hand-carved rubber stamp and may contain an ink pad. Finders make an imprint of the letterbox's stamp on their personal log book, and leave an imprint of their personal stamp on the letterbox's logbook .
